MEET OUR POTTERS
We're proud to introduce you to some of the potters behind our handcrafted pottery. Each of them has a deep history; each has a colourful present; and each has a dream for the future – JustPotters provides the support of community and the stability of meaningful work to help get them there.
Niki earned her diploma in studio art at Capilano University and her fine arts degree from Emily Carr where she majored in ceramics. She loves pottery for its ability to bring beauty to everyday objects and finds the process of working with clay to be therapeutic. Creating meaningful employment and helping people is what brought her to JustPotters. Niki lives in the Strathcona neighbourhood of Vancouver with her husband (whose name happens to be Clay), her kitty and a goofy bull terrier.
Melissa has always had a passion for creating art. She fell in love with clay at her first community centre class and never looked back.
Benjamin Hertwig is a second-generation potter, interested in words, clay, paint, and people. He loves the tactile quality of ceramics and the process.
